Ineptitude Reigns
By: Trent |Arsenal have bowed out of the FA Cup after losing to Blackburn 0-1 at Ewood Park. Arsenal were denied two clear penalties prior to Benni McCarthy’s late, great goal.
The referee was, needless to say, Graham Poll. And everyone’s excited that he will be doing the ManYoo – ‘Pool match this weekend.
I [...]
Carling Cup Redux: Or, Cat Got Your Tongue?
By: Trent |Well, it really was quite a Carling Cup Final this weekend. The storylines were already fairly compelling heading in to the match, with Chelsea’s experienced side facing Arsenal’s B team of Young Gunners that had brought them through to Cardiff. And of course Wenger and The Special One are generally entertaining on their [...]
Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting
By: Trent |Arsenal’s Young Gunners bowed to Chelsea in the Carling Cup Final played Sunday in Cardiff. Theo Walcott’s opening goal was cancelled out by a brace from Didier Drogba. Let’s see…John Terry got kicked in the face and taken to hospital, and the game was marred by an injury-time brawl between the squads.
More to [...]
Oh My Carling, Oh My Carling
By: Trent |…Oh my Caaaarling, Clementine. Finally one of the endless cup journeys will end this weekend, when Arsenal face Chelsea in Cardiff for the Carling Cup Final. As you all know, Arsene Wenger has been using a young lineup during this League Cup run, and stars like Thierry Henry will again watch this clash [...]
Stop Wasting My Time…You Know What I Want
By: Trent |You know what I need…or maybe you don’t.
Do I have to come right flat out and tell you everything?…gimme some money.
Spinal Tap aside, money is the word of the day as Arsenal brass discuss the effect on the club of the move from Highbury to Ashburton Grove. In the six months ending on November [...]
Full Time: PSV 1-0 Arsenal
By: Trent |Not a good result for the Gunners. They will be at home for the second leg, but they will need to greatly improve on their finishing (what’s new) to advance.
The game’s lone goal was scored by…Edison Mendez of course. Now where could one have read that he’s the man to look out for? [...]
Half Time: PSV 0-0 Arsenal
By: Trent |Nothin’ doin’ at the half. Arsenal have shown more signs of life, but neither team is giving much up in this Champions League match.
In fact, it looks as if all three British teams (Arsenal, Celtic, ManYoo) will head into half time at 0-0.
Only Real Madrid, currently thumping Bayern Munich 3-1, has shown dominance thus [...]
Champions League Returns
By: Trent |Arsenal’s plan to schedule a match every other day until mid-May continues apace as the Gunners face PSV Eindhoven in tonight’s Champions League clash. The match, which is the first leg of the tie, will be held in the Netherlands. Arsenal are slight favorites, although a lot of folks seem to expect a [...]
Arsenal to Host Man City Upon Advancement
By: Trent |The draw has been held for the FA Cup quarterfinals, and if Arsenal can defeat Blackburn in a fifth-round replay the Citizens will visit Ashburton Grove.
Speaking of Blackburn, how about that wily American Brad Friedel pulling out all the stops against Arsenal over the weekend? Seems like a long time since his display at [...]
Full Time: Arsenal 0-0 Blackburn
By: Trent |Not much to add to that FA Cup 5th-round scoreline. Arsenal had more chances, Blackburn did some decent defending, and Aliadiere was obviously fouled in the box but the ref had gone missing. The Rovers will be pleased with the result.
