Welcome Lassana Diarra
By: Trent |At the death of the transfer period, Arsenal have signed Lassana Diarra, late of Chelsea. Before he was a Blue, Diarra played for Le Havre of the French second division.
The 22-year-old seems comfortable playing both defending midfielder as well as defender.
And it’s weird to see Arsene Wenger put his faith in a [...]
Geez, You Exit the Intertubes For One Day…
By: Trent |and the exiled David Dein sells 15% of the Arsenal Football Club for £75m to Nikolai Volkoff and the Iron Sheik.
A cheap shot from me? Yes, the new suitors are actually Alisher Usmanov and Farhad Moshiri. But until I learn more later, so be it.
Which is not to say that a [...]
Arsenal’s Champions League Draw
By: Trent |As the seeded club in Group H of the Champions League draw, Arsenal will have to mix it up with Steaua Bucharest, Slavia Prague, and the winner of Monday’s Sevilla v. AEK Athens tie.
More breakdown when the group is finally set, but I like Arsenal’s chances of advancing.
Come On, Gooners. Er, Gooners (TM)
By: Trent |Not wanting even a farthing to be left unvacuumed, Arsenal have applied to trademark the terms “Gooners”. The application is still pending, so no conclusion yet.
But surely Arsenal know that the logical conclusion of such an act is the inevitable suing of its own supporters in court.
And after all, “Gooners” is a term invented [...]
Champions League: Arsenal 3-0 Sparta Prague
By: Trent |No real drama here as Arsenal defeat Sparta Prague at Ashburton Grove to win the tie 5-0 on aggregate. I haven’t yet had a chance to watch the match, but for now know that goals from former Sparta man Tomas Rosicky, Cesc Fabregas and Eduardo were more than enough.
UPDATE: Here’s a live blog of [...]
Johnny Rotten Update
By: Trent |You may recall that over the slow summer months, instead of running breathless posts about signings that Arsenal weren’t making, we ran a feature called Arsenal Celebrity Supporter Series. One of our first celebs was Sex Pistols frontman Johnny Rotten. It will return next summer, but in the meantime, did anyone see Johnny [...]
If You Need a Daily Picture of Robin van Persie
By: Trent |…then you’re in luck.
And as soon as I get my Sepp Blatter shrine site up and running, you’ll be the first to know.
Video Scorecard for Adebayor v. RvP
By: Trent |Per the questions asked below, izzymo4 offers this video comparison of two of Henry’s heirs apparent.
And how about that music?!
Will Adebayor Increase the Grease?
By: Trent |Which makes complete sense if you incorrectly think that ‘grease’ is slang for scoring goals. Putting that aside, Emmanuel Adebayor says that Arsenal will be fine in this post-Henry world.
Of Saturday’s 1-0 win over Man City, the Lad from Lomé sez:
“The boss told us to be patient and, in the end, [...]
Full Time: Arsenal 1-0 Manchester City
By: Trent |Looks like evo wins the prediction pool, as Arsenal defeated the previously perfect Man Citeh on the strength of Cecs Fabregas’ late winner.
It was a hard fought match all around, and Citeh have definitely improved from last year.
Arsenal, in the person of Robin van Persie, had a penalty saved in the 65th minute.
And I’ll also [...]
