Not a world-beating display, but a nice three points away from home.
The lone goal came from Robin van Persie, who is shown at left battling with (ex) Gunner legend Freddie Ljungberg. Weird.
Also, Hleb was stretchered off, and we’ll be monitoring that as well.

Arsenal took the lead at Upton Park behind a 13th-minute header from Robin van Persie. A very nice start to the match.
And yes, it’s weird to see Freddie Ljungberg in a Hammers uni.

Arsene Wenger is once again deploying a veritable “B” Team for the Carling Cup this season. So far, so good, as the hosts defeated Newcastle 2-0 behind goals from Nicklas Bendtner and Deilson, each coming in the last 10 minutes of the match.

And it was about as close as the scoreline indicates. First half goals from Diaby and Adebayor, were complemented after the break by two more goals from Ade and yet another from Cesc Fabregas.
A thorough beating, although of course not a terribly surprising one. Derby’s road woes continue apace.
