Melo Re-Signs with Fiorentina; Arsenal releases 8, signs 4

By: Martin | Comments 6 Comments

Well, the big news this morning is that Felipe Melo has re-signed with Fiorentina. While this doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t still consider coming to Arsenal, especially since there is reportedly some sort of out clause in the contract, I think it certainly makes it much less likely. Phooey–he seems like a really good fit, [...]

Got Melo?

By: Martin | Comments 5 Comments

The big news this morning is that rumored Arsenal target Felipe Melo asked former Gunner Gilberto Silva about the club, and Gilberto told him he should join the club:
We heard rumours and he asked me. I said it’s a fantastic club and if he’s interested he should go without thinking. He is exactly what they [...]

Fabregas Comments Misinterpreted by English Media…It Must be Thursday (UPDATE)

By: Martin | Comments 3 Comments

First off, I know not all readers of this blog are American, and this is a site devoted to English soccer, but I’ve got to express my joy and amazement at the Yanks’ 2-0 win over the top-ranked team in the world yesterday. FA Actually Gets Something Right

By: Martin | Comments 1 Comment

Remember when we came back to beat Hull in the FA Cup quarterfinal? And Hull boss/tanning bed enthusiast accused Cesc Fabregas of spitting at a Hull coach after the game? Vermaelen in; Eboue Waits; RvP to United?

By: Martin | Comments 5 Comments

Well, it looks like Vermaelen is all but a done deal. He claims he has reported to London for his Arsenal medical. Frankly, once things get to that point, there is probably very little left to do in terms of finalizing the deal. Vermaelen seems genuinely pumped about the move, saying:
I feel so proud. [...]

Fixture List Announced

By: Martin | Comments No Comments

So um…apparently the leaked early fixture list I posted a few days ago turned out to not be all that accurate. I did give a disclaimer that it might be, but apologies anyway. At any rate, here’s the real fixture list:

Deja Vu: Alonso Injures Cesc Again

By: Martin | Comments 5 Comments

Not sure how serious it is, but apparently Xabi Alonso injured Cesc’s knee with a hard tackle during Spanish national team practice today. Cesc had to leave practice limping, and early reports say he will not play in tomorrow’s game. I will, obviously, update this story as it develops, but we probably won’t know how [...]

You put one right back in, you put one right back out….
There’s not a great deal of transfer stuff going on today, but what speculation is going on centers around our two right-backs, Bacary Sagna and Emmanuel Eboue.
