All Eyes on Underhill
By: travis | December 16th, 2008Today is a special day for many Arsenal supporters. It marks the return of Eduardo to the reserve side as they take on Pompey reserves at Underhill. While it isn’t a full blown recovery – yet – it is a step in the right direction, something that many experts and doctors were not expecting. There was talk about a recovery taking 12-18 months, although a lot of ridiculous numbers were out there. Eduardo won’t play the whole game, speculated to go about 60 minutes, and is still as long as six weeks away from full fitness. It’s still a good thing to hear.
Want to hear something funny? A rumor is spreading that Philippe Mexes and Alexander Pato will be brought in during the January transfer window. Considering each player would cost much more than he is worth, what is the point of even speculating? I doubt Pato would consider leaving the San Siro for the Emirates. Who do these reporters think they are?

Eduardo is a huge upgrade as a third/substitute striker over Vela or (especially) Bendtner. And given van Persie’s injury history, whoever is in that role is going to see a lot of important action this spring, so here’s hoping for a speedy recovery.

I’m elated that Eduardo has returned and hope he quickly grows in confidence and form. I don’t want to really say anything other than we need to shop for some effective players if we want to stand a chance of winning anything this season. I’m not talking about unproven players, I’m thinking players who can have an immediate impact on our team. I don’t think we need so sell Gallas this Jan, unless he really wants to go. Even though he’s a sorry excuse for a captain he is a very intelligent defender. I saw that Juve was in the market for him, I’m a big Juve fan and wouldn’t be mad if he went there. We need to bolster our midfield and defence. Players like Eboue and Diaby, though I love Diaby, aren’t cuttin it anymore. On second thoughts lets keep diaby.
