Champions League: Slavia Prague
By: Trent | November 7th, 2007
Tonight’s Champions League tilt with Slavia Prague will feature an Arsenal side missing several key players. Boss Wenger has announced that Kolo Toure and Tomas Rosicky will miss due to some small knocks, while Cesc Fabregas and Alex Hleb will be rested as well. It’s funny, isn’t it, thinking back to last season, that Hleb is one of the players that now gets ‘rested’ by the gaffer. Anywho.
The Gunners will only need a point from the match to secure qualification to the knockout stages. In the first meeting between the two clubs, Arsenal won a home leg match 7-0. Which would seem to spell certain doom for today’s hosts, although I have heard tell of English teams that split a home-and-home with Eastern European clubs even though they won one of the matches by 8 goals. Seriously.
And anyway, although Slavia is generally outclassed in this competition, their supporters, seen above, at least have spirit. Maybe enough to send Sir Alex Ferguson to his fainting couch, I hope, even from a distance.
