Aston Villa 1-2 Arsenal

By: Trent | December 1st, 2007

mathieu_flamini_and_emmanuel_adebayor_arsenal_604687.jpgA nice comeback and clinical performance for the visiting Gunners. Villa had opened up a 1-0 lead early on at Villa Park, courtesy of Craig Garnder. To be honest, I thought that Villa’s streak (four straight wins) and the injury bug that had been catching up to Arsenal, might be enough for the hosts to take or at least share the points. The opening 15 minutes seemed to bolster this theory.

But later in the first half Mathiew Flamini and then Manu Adebayor put Arsenal ahead to stay. The overall performance in the first stanza was nearly masterful.

That said, withstanding the second half fury from Villa was just as impressive.

The lead widens.

Arsenal is so exciting this year. I am glad Adebayor has been able to step up as striker. That was the position I was most worried about at the start of the season (Henry who?) :)
