Preview: Arsenal v. Blackburn
By: Trent | December 22nd, 2006
Tomorrow is Christmas Eve Eve, which in the Prem means football for the fans (and whinging from the players and coaches).
Blackburn currently sit sixteenth in the table, and would to nick a point from the hosts. The Rovers’ top scorer, Benni McCarthy, will miss the match through suspension. On the flip side, Stephane Henchoz is available again after his own timeout in the corner.
Arsenal are still plagued with several injuries, and you can now add Eboue to that list. Looks like Hoyt will replace him. Flamini is said to be 50/50.
Ahead of the match, Wenger has been fairly sanguine on the Gunners’ title hopes this year:
“It would look a bit pretentious to say that we will be champions this time - but on the other hand, I have not given up. I feel there is potential in this team and we’re not missing a lot.”
I guess that’s better than moping about it all.
I suppose it goes without saying that Arsenal really need the three points from tomorrow. Unless the 1994-1995 Blackburn side shows up, that’s the result I’m betting on.
