Tottenham and a Pain in the Neck
By: Trent | December 1st, 2006
Seems earlier speculation has been confirmed: Thierry Henry will miss Saturday’s derby clash with Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium. Henry’s sciatic nerve is still making his neck all goofy (scientifically speaking). The Gunners are still favored, but they will need an uptick from their recent form to get the three points.
Boss Arsene Wenger says he psyched for the derby clash, even without Henry. Mostly.
“The good news is we are trying to win the game. I feel we have a very strong team, they are very young but I believe in them. I know what I want to achieve with them and I will get where we want to go.”

Uh…Trent? I know it’s been a long, long time since I took anatomy… But that picture in your other post kind of doesn’t look like a neck to me.
But then again, maybe superstar soccer players are built differently from the rest of us.

True enough. And I don’t mean to suggest our dear Thierry has had his head up his arse.
Truth be told, I’m not secure enough in my anatomy studies to expain it all, and I can’t say that the various reports I’ve read and linked to gibe completely. But since the sciatic nerve apparently connects directly with the spine, I suppose it’s not far-fetched to suppose it can also relate to neck pain.
Talk about being out of one’s depth! I feel like I need to end with a hearty, Let’s Go Gunners!
