The Win That Had To Be
By: Trent | November 21st, 2006
As noted, Arsenal have defeated Hamburg 3-1 in a crucial Group G Champions League match. Because Porto beat CSKA Moscow earlier today, Arsenal will need a point at Porto in two weeks’ time to secure advancement into the next round. For a roundup of the interesting CL results from today, check here.
This was a fairly nerve-wracking game. The Germans (courtesy of their Dutch captain, anyway) went ahead almost immediately. It wasn’t until into the second half that Arsenal leveled. From there, the Gunners scored two goals in the last seven minutes to secure the three points.
Thierry Henry–the man who Arsene Wenger and Johan Cruyff say is the best footballer in Europe–will not be on the pitch in Portugal, due to some cumulative yellow card shenanigans. Wenger says the team can survive without Henry for one match.
By the way, some have suggested that A-Dub’s resting of Henry during last weekend’s draw against Newcastle indicates that Wenger is more interested in winning the Champions League than the Premierhip. Arsenal ‘keeper Jens Lehmann agrees.

Pffft - Henry was the one of the worst players on the pitch tonight. I love my Henry but he needed to be benched. Maybe a forced benching will give him some rest and more fire.
More Theo. We want Theo. Freddie, thank you for your years of service. I will never forget your red mohawk days. But please kindly stepped aside for THEO, THEEEEO!
Oh and Hleb was MOTM in my opinion

Trent,
Theo’s looking pretty good these days.
During the World Cup (at worldcupblog.org), there was a link to some of “younger” Walcott’s exploits dubbed over with Scribe’s “Not Many”.
I’ve tried to find the link, but I am unable to do so. If it is possible, could you link to it again.
Thanks.
(Happy Thanksgiving!)
