Visiting Blackburn and Your Predictions

By: Trent | August 17th, 2007

blackburn.jpgOn Sunday the Gunners get back into Premiership action after defeating Sparta Prague in the Champions League during the week, as a visit to Blackburn awaits the club.

Like Arsenal, the Rovers have played only one league match, and like Arsenal, they came away with three points. Blackburn came from behind to beat Middlesbrough 2-1 with second half goals from Roque Santa Cruz and Derbyshire.

Speaking of Santa Cruz, Rovers manager Mark Hughes is already quite pleased with his new signing.

From Arsenal’s standpoint, it looks as if Eduardo will finally be fit. Look for him to start or at least get some solid playing time off of the bench.

So let’s hear your predictions for Sunday’s match. To start us off, I’ll say…Blackburn 1-2 Arsenal. Goals from van Persie and the new boy, Eduardo.

Blackburn will probably go up early with goals by Bentley and Santa Cruz, but the Gunners come roaring back with an early one in the second by Hleb and one late dramatic one by Bendtner. 2-2.

I think this is a very important match for Arsenal and with such a young team, a draw this early in the season against a solid squad like Blackburn is a very positive result.

VP to score early amid tight defence and hard tackles as Savage realise he cant get his usual way and resort to wind-ups but thererly ignored. Final result 2-0 to Arsenal

0-0 first half draw and then early in the second Lehman somehow bicycle kicks in an own goal but Van Persie gets a late equaliser. 1-1 the final.

Blackburn will use their predictable crass tactics of rotational fouling, rotational time-wasting and constant tactical fouling of course. Eduardo now looks to be injured as does Rosicky (AGAIN!). I don’t know about this match — Santa Cruz is a 6′3″ center forward and very physically imposing. Arsenal always has problems with players like this. It will be a miracle if he doesn’t score. If we draw, I’ll be satisfied.

Draw 1-1 A goal From Van Persie around half way through the first half but a header from Santa Cruz near the end leaves final score at 1-1
