Nothing To Report, So Here’s This…Thing
By: Abby | July 24th, 2008There’s nothing going on. Nothing. Nothing worth reporting, at least- some more nonsense about transfers that may or may not happen, that may or may not be dragging on way past my ability to get angry at it. Some ex-players may or may not have said stupid things (c’mon now, does anyone really expect tact or nuance from Alexander Hleb?). But I don’t even want to acknowledge any of that, because it’s so dull.
Instead, I’m going to show you one of my favorite random pieces of Arsenal-related memorabilia that I own.
I collect weird memorabilia, and am particularly thrilled when it’s football-related. So when I was in Prague last summer, I had to pick up this.

They are Arsenal nesting dolls. Oddly-featured Arsenal nesting dolls. I fell in love the moment I saw them- they might even out-odd my Ronaldinho caganer. They came from one of the tourist stores lining the streets around the old part of Prague, a store filled with them, for every team I could possibly think of and some I never would have (like Grimsby Town, or Motherwell, or oddly enough, the Denver Nuggets). As a collector of the odd memorabilia, I did need them.
The best part? They don’t really look like any particular player, do they? Guess who’s which! The backs are after the jump…

I guess Lehmann’s a bit obvious, since he’s the only one in a different shirt, and since it is from Prague Rosicky would have to be there…but did anyone guess the others? Be honest.

I swear to god that was a Barrack Obama face on the dolls. Which is what made it even more strange.

Why is Gallas so small!?

These are awesome! I wondered how they decided which ones got to be the “big” ones… poor Gallas.

I bought them (and took those pictures, actually) last year, before people in Czech tourist traps would want to make Obama nesting dolls, which makes it even odder.
I think my favorite part about tiny Gallas is that they didn’t bother painting the rest of him, only his face…c’mon, you can’t paint the rest of that tiny head brown?

Why do all their noses look the same? And so crooked. I would be afraid that they would start moving around at night. You are a brave girl Abby
