2008/09 Fixtures
By: travis | June 16th, 2008The fixtures have been announced. First reactions aren’t anything too significant. The opening match will be against West Brom on 16 August. Obviously, the two months between now and then seem like such a long time, but in actuality will be here sooner than I realize it will.
In the never ending Alexander Hleb saga, it just took an(nother) interesting turn. Barcelona seem to be ready to kill the deal. Not like there was an actual deal about to happen. Most of it was wild speculation, so one might say that this isn’t really news. Does anyone think Hleb will move on? Or is he actually going to hang around? I really have no idea, and either way I won’t really be that surprised. He stays, it helps our depth. He goes, we have a bit more money in the bank or perhaps a new player. Stay tuned, but don’t hold your breath.
Quick Euro update - Senderos and the Swiss got their first win. It wasn’t anything more than a moral victory having already been eliminated, but they did get the best of Portugal in a 2-0 win. Oh, and of course I couldn’t help but take a bit of pleasure over Petr Cech’s costly gaffe.
