A few quick thoughts…
By: travis | March 20th, 2009Before the weekend arrives in twenty minutes. Apologies for lack of action on this blog — I’ve been super busy over at MLS Offside with the start of the season underway. I know, it’s MLS but I have a special place in my heart for soccer of the American variety. Difficult to maintain both blogs up to my liking and I may seek to try and incorporate another blogger as the MLS season picks up. Keep your eyes posted if you have any interest.
Business aside, it’s Newcastle today and another big game. Maintaining fourth place is the important thing here. Newcastle seems to be in shambles these days and now is a great time to play them. It’s not all good news ahead of the match with Walcott suffering another injury. A crushing blow for the young man who locked his knee in training. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Not sure what else I can cover prior to the game. Great to get the win against Hull this week and to advance to a semifinal at Wembley. The Champions League draw will be tricky with Villareal, but more winnable than perhaps a Barcelona or Chelsea. Not to say that it’s going to be easy at all. First things first and it’s important to concentrate on beating Newcastle today.

hiccckkk! Walcott is out, again! Who’s going to cover his wing? If we play Archevin and Nasri on the wings, we surely need a cover. What about EbouĂ©? OHOH! Not him again! WE are doomed. If we manage to beat Villareal, we won’t do it agin agaisnt a stronger. But, we could play Vela on the left, then play Nasri in the middle and Abou right behind him. Arshevin in theright and EbouĂ© as a cover. When Francesc Soler Fabregas will be back, then Abou could become a cover on the left for Vela. Then again, Eduardo can play on the wings as much as Denilson. We need Eduardo in front of he opposing net to critically finish the balls that are sent to him. If Adebayor comes back, then it will be a wicked. The only guys that would be missing are Rocsiky and Walcott.
