Adebayor Shown the Door

By: Trent | March 26th, 2007

adebayor001b.jpgWell, it’s internationals week and not much Arsenal news at the moment. But if you’re willing to play two degrees of separation, I’ll let you know that Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been dropped from the Togo national team after voicing his displeasure over a player bonus controversy.

Pay disputes are nothing new to the Togo national side, and this row involves bonuses due to the players as a result of making last summer’s World Cup finals. The players are waiting on a third of the agreed-upon $162,000.

Sure, Manu doesn’t need the dough. But I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and presume he’s sticking up for his fellow players, some of whom no doubt could use the money.

Frankly, the Togo national team seems like it’s always on the verge of collapse. Let’s hope the team and players can come to a truce soon.
