Arsenal-Wigan Game Thread
By: Martin | September 19th, 2009Well, game time is nigh, and the lineups are in.
Arsenal: Starters: Mannone, Sagna, Gallas, Vermaelen, Clichy, Eboue, Song, Fabregas, Diaby, Eduardo, Van Persie. Subs: Szczesny, Rosicky, Ramsey, Silvestre, Wilshere, Gibbs, Bendtner.
Wigan: Starters: Kirkland, Melchiot, Boyce, Bramble, Figueroa, Thomas, Diame, N’Zogbia, Gomez, Koumas, Rodallega. Subs: Pollitt, Edman, Cho, Scharner, Scotland, Sinclair, King.
Interesting that Bendtner makes his first appearance on the bench of the season off the back of what may have been his best performance so far. It’ll be interesting to see if Wenger means this to be more of a 4-3-3, with Eboue playing up front on the right, or more of a traditional 4-4-2, with Eboue on the right and Diaby on the left. One formation has served us well this season, one has not, so the choice would *seem* obvious, but you never know with Arsene. Also, I continue to be worried by the fact that it is Silvestre, not Senderos, who is our reserve center back at the moment. Senderos recently played in a reserve match, so I don’t think it’s an injury/health issue.
Also just to let you know, the last two league losses may have been my fault. You’ll recall I moved to NYC about a month ago. The two league games we’ve played in that time have been Manchester United and Manchester City, both pretty crushing losses. I watched both matches in the same bar. You’ll be happy to know that this morning I will be watching the match from a different bar, so if we win, all credit goes to me.
Let’s get our trophy push back on track. Come on Arsenal.

I’m having trouble remembering all the injuries. But is Denilson injured too? I don’t remember that somehow.

I’m still getting free Setanta, which is nice. I only can watch the first half though.
Is it possible that Wigan will set a world record for fouls in one half? It’s kinda silly.Posted from
