Arsenal’s Saviour Experiences Set Back

Jack

There were rumors yesterday on twitter suggesting Jack Wilshere had suffered an injury setback. Many (read: All) were hoping they were like every other rumor regarding Arsenal during a transfer rumor that never actually happen, but this one has been proven to be true.

During Wenger’s press conference the news revealed the happy news:

He has had a little setback that is under investigation at the moment so I cannot give you how long he will be out for. At the moment he is seeing a specialist and as soon as we know more we will communicate. It sets him back a little bit but for how long I don’t know. It is the same foot but a different problem to the injury he had surgery on back in September. But is it an inflammation? We have to wait a little bit.

From Jack himself:

So yea. I’ve been saying all season that I have felt Arsenal have been in more need of a creative midfielder than they are of a new striker, because you know, relying on Abou Diaby and a 19 year old kid coming off a 7 month layoff due to injury is absolute madness. But then this is also the club that decided playing a meerkat as a lone striker was a sensible idea.

This is particularly ironic as there was an article from one of those crap rumor papers in the UK that Wilshere was going to make a ‘miraculous medical recovery’ and come back earlier than expected, which was never true as Wenger always said late January or early February for Jack to come back. And now this.

We could try lay blame on Wenger, Wilshere, the medics or some gofer hole at the training ground like we did the first time, but in all honesty it doesn’t matter either way. Players get injured all the time, and we like to believe it’s worse at Arsenal, which may or may not be true, I’m not really caring either way because I only care about Arsenal. And therefore I think it’s absolutely madness that we relied this long on the awaited return of Jack Wilshere.

Am I repeating myself? Probably. But really, it’s basic probability. The odds always were that with a couple injuries Arsenal would be relying on….. shit, who are we relying on? Oh yes, Tomas Rosicky who I love but hasn’t scored for 2 years in the league and a loanee maverick from Chelsea. This was bound to happen. That’s my point if you haven’t guessed.

Let’s try the positive news shall we? Bacary Sagna is back to full training and may play or be on the pitch this weekend. He will need surgery to get rid of the pins in his leg at some point in the off season, but it’s great to have a real fullback around again. Arteta, Henry and Coquelin are supposedly fit and are in contention to play on Sunday. Chamberlain is alright as well you will be happy to hear. Taking him off was only fatigue and his calf was not gone or anything like that. Oh crap, that probably wasn’t the best use of words, but then we all kind of figured the calf issue was a complete load of bollocks in the first place didn’t we?

One more attempt at the positive? French side Lille have sold their star Moussa Sow to Fenerbahce and will be in need of a new starting striker. Thankfully we all know Wenger only bought Park to hold him as hostage until January so that we could use him to buy Eden Hazard after they tumbled out of the Champions League. Expect this news to be revealed on Tuesday.

A guy can dream can’t he?

I have zero actual hope Arsenal sign Hazard (or anyone). Chelsea are heavily linked with Hazard, and if they sign him I will be feeling extremely jaded. Mata and Hazard.

Oh happy Days.

    In arsene we doubt.
Your french arrogance and stubborness is exactly why you must go.

From what I've seen of both Arsenal and AC Milan over the past 2 seasons, it's going to be a Battle of the Injuries. They might have a Pato, Ibra, Cassano, and Robinho, but I can't remember the last time they had all of them fit together. So that's encouraging.

Hey, good news everyone!  Morocco got bounced out of the African Cup of Nations, so that means Chamakh is coming back.  Like a whole new signing!

That would be a brutal kick to the throat if you ask me. Losing two of the best wingers in the world to Chelski...

Well we can't lose what's never ours, and where is the surprise in a club with a shit ton more money having a better time luring players?

Darren, I seriously share your pain. We are indeed the only big team that wait for key players to return from long injury spells out without even considering buying a decent replacement. I hope I'm wrong, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if Wilshere didn't play at all this season, or even if Diaby didn't return. SMDH. Fenerbache paid 13mill for Sow. The guy scored 31 goals in 52 games, and from what I've heard its hard to score in Ligue 1. What a damn steal! "Tentative" isn't even the word to describe Wenger transfer dealings of "lack-there-of" this season. The transfer window closes in 4 days, what will the drama unfold next.

I share the same pain, Kas, and I think that's a crazy price for Sow as well, but he was fed by Gerv and Hazard last season, so it's not like it was as hard for him to score as it was for Park. Morever, Wenger might be laying off the Ligue 1 strikers... Chamakh was looking just as delicious for Zero pounds, and he started well, but look at him now.. I feel bad that we may have ruined his career.
