AS Roma Preview
By: travis | February 23rd, 2009Don’t look now, but the Champions League are back. It feels like just the other day the last fixture took place. Whatever it feels like, Roma is coming to town and I have no idea what to say about it. The young guns will be challenged again, and there is no Arshavin and Eduardo to hype things up. While this match looks fairly winnable, there is no way of knowing what sort of performance Arsenal is capable of.
Three points picked up out of a possible nine leave me discouraged with this CL tie. While Roma captain Francesco Totti maybe miss out on tomorrow’s fixture, the team that Arsene has at his disposal has done very little to show that they can take down a team like Roma. They haven’t had the best run of results this season, sitting in sixth place in Serie A, but players like Daniele De Rossi and and Alberto Aquilani have the ability to change a game. There’s no one, aside from perhaps Van Persie or Nasri with the big game pedigree that can step up and make a difference. Hence why I can’t forecast what sort of performance that this team will put in. Of late, they’ve lacked effort and motivation, something that can be attributed to a lack of depth. If there was quality coming off the bench — and not Eboue — players might step up in their drive to maintain a place in the first XI.
That aside, there is young talent that could step up and come away with a result. Recently, I don’t have a lot of confidence in this team. Maybe we’ll get a result, maybe we went.

I hate to say it, but the best scenario I see right now is 0-0 at home and then maybe a scoring draw on the road. And the road game after a couple players recover from injury in the attack. I just don’t see where the goals come from right now, if Van Persie doesn’t get them. Ugh. It’s a frustrating time to be an Arsenal fan.

Roma had very shitty start of the season, but now they’re much more convincing than, let’s say, Arsenal with all their 0-0 draws.
I like Arsenal – the only EPL team I ever cheer – but am still rooting for Roma. Having said that, it is possible for Arsenal to win, but if they win it’ll rather be caused by Roma’s errors, not their own good form.Posted from

Momoney stole my line ! That really sums it up.
We had V.Persie and they didn’t.
He is only guy on this team who can score.
Again may I point out Bendtner being so
incapable when he receives the ball known as the First Touch? You saw for yourselves how many times he couldn’t settle down the simplest of passes inside the box, which
surprises me as why wouldn’t he just “one time” the pass?
He’s had some spectacular results when he threads the needle. Eboue Eboue Eboue???????????? Is he hanging out with joaquin phoenix?Posted from
