Comeback for Thierry Against the Faroe Islands?
By: Trent | October 11th, 2006
French and Arsenal striker Thierry Henry will try to bounceback today when Les Bleus take on the Faroe Islands in Euro 2008 qualifying. France, you’ll recall, were upset by Scotland on the weekend.
The Faroe Islands, looking for its first major tournament qualification, fear a wounded French team looking to take its frustration out on the nearest minnow.
Henry’s performace for country has always been an odd issue. He’s scored 37 goals in 89 appearances, which is nothing to ashamed of to be sure. But Henry should really step up for France now that Zizou has retired his melon d’attaque.
UPDATE: France 5-0 Faroe Islands. Henry scored in the 22nd minute in what was (none-too-suprisingly) a rout. Other French goals by Saha, Anelka and Trezeguet (2).

I didn’t see the game, but read the French liveblog afterwards. The real story wasn’t Henry, (Uh…Thierry…does the word “offsides” mean anything to you?) The real story was Trezeguet (two goals in less than 30 minutes of play,) who finally got a chance for a comeback after the year from hell.
(Allez Les Bleus!)
