That’s in honor of one of the nicknames suggested below. At any rate, Arsenal came from behind to beat bogey team Bolton 2-1 today at the Emirates Stadium. Admit it–you were a little worried when Anelka put the guests up after just ten minutes. Can Arsenal muster two goals here?, I heard me you cry.
Thankfully, yes. Tomas Rosicky got things going in the 30th minute. Just after halftime, Fabregas netted the game winner. It was his first goal since…since…last August maybe. Wow.
The best news of course is that the three points give Arsenal a pretty decent lead in the race for fourth place and the last Champions League spot. In fact, the Gunners are now only two points behind Liverpool, which drew with Manchester City.
UPDATE: Arsenal v. Liverpool, after the jump:
Brian from the Liverpool Offside wonders whether Arsenal will catch Liverpool for third place. One thing that may help Arsenal is Liverpool’s focus on being in the semi-finals of the Champions League. The Gunners have, uh, no such distractions. But let’s look at the fixtures left for each club.
Liverpool
Boro
Wigan
@Portsmouth
@Fulham
Charlton
Arsenal
Man City
@Spurs
Fulham
Chelsea
@Portsmouth
As you can see, Liverpool play only one club currently in the top half of the table (Pompey). Arsenal have three top-half teams to contend with–Chelsea, Pompey and a tough trip to Spurs. Think Tottenham would like to spoil Arsenal’s attempt to overtake the ‘Pool (or even to keep the Gunners out of the top four altogether)? Who knows–maybe Spurs will get tummy troubles again this late season.
So, excepting Liverpool’s upcoming potential Champions League distractions, I’d say Arsenal will have a very tough time overtaking Liverpool. I feel more confident, however, about staving off Bolton.

I absolutely dread the spurs and chelsea games. At least the chelsea match won’t be at stamford bridge.
