Embarrassment for, err, of Riches
By: Trent | February 5th, 2007As Bob has already noted, Arsenal hero Thierry Henry has joined with Roger Federer and Tiger Woods to shill for Gillette. My sources tell me that Gillette is, in fact, the best a man can get.
The photo of the trio, which you can see here, is pretty embarrassing, although that pain is likely easd by the gajillion euro each man is receiving for his troubles.
I don’t think I need to prove my bona fides as an Henry fan at this point, but I’ll note that when all’s said and done, Woods will be known as the best golfer who ever lived. Ditto Federer, for tennis. Henry will not be known as the best-ever footballer. Genius, legend, all true. In fact, no one playing anywhere right now (my humble back yard excepted) can lay claim to greatest-footballer-still-giving-it-a-go. No real point, but something to think about.

I agree that Henry can’t be called the greatest footballer ever but who can be given that title right now — and still playing? The gillette people needed a great footballer who’s playing right now. Granted there are other greats playing right now but Henry’s a pretty damned good choice - and while there may be others right now who are his equal, I don’t think there’s anyone better.
But you’re right about the ad - really dum!
