Euro 2008: Oranje you glad you watched?
By: travis | June 13th, 2008Ah the possibilities are endless on creating your own headline including the Dutch nickname. I’m sure glad I got up at 5:30 AM to watch half two of France-Netherlands. Not only did I get to see a decent performance out of Robin Van Persie - still not injured, keeping fingers crossed - I saw a wonderful game played by the Dutch. Arjen Robben with an unstoppable strike to answer a Thierry Henry goal that had made it 2-1. I didn’t even see Robben’s goal, as I had walked away from the TV for a split second. That goal, plus setting up Van Persie were a sight to behold. Pencil in Dutch as the new trendy favorite. Even though not many people picked to make it out of this group. I sure hope Romania win next game as well. What a laugh that would be.
Our other representative in that game, William Gallas, didn’t have the best game. His most memorable impact on the game were close ups of his face in a look of bewilderment after Van Persie’s goal, then after Robben’s. The French coaching at Euro has been laughable. Think they’d fire Domenech before the next game? Who is he kidding with those lineups? At least give Benzema and Nasri a shot against Italy. And then force their transfer to Arsenal. Easy as that.
