Fixture List Leaked
By: Martin | June 15th, 2009This may not be all that news-worthy, but it does appear that Sky Sports inadvertently posted Arsenal’s early season schedule on their website before realizing their mistake and taking it down. At any rate, their screw-up is our gain. This isn’t official, but it seems to be legit–while they haven’t apparently finalized the schedule yet, GoonerTalk, which broke the story, does have a screen grab of Sky’s site, and it would seem odd if Sky just made this up out of thin air. Anyhow, without further ado:
August 15–West Ham United (away)
August 22–Burnley (home)
August 29–Chelsea (home)
September 12–Bolton (away)
September 19–Liverpool (away)
September 26–Manchester City (home)
Pretty tricky early season fixture list, if you ask me. Obviously, Chelsea at home and away at Anfield are tough fixtures. Manchester City could be much improved with the addition of Gareth Barry and maybe Tevez and/or another marquee name. West Ham very nearly qualified for Europe last year under Zola, and has a lot of young talent. Even Bolton won as many as they lost at the Reebok last season. Really, other than Burnley, I don’t think there’s an easy win on that list. Throw in what could be a very difficult Champions League qualifier, and August and September suddenly look like a real test.
Arsenal best come correct or not at all if we want to avoid another disappointing season. Also, it is exciting that season kick-off is just 2 months away.
