Fulltime: Chelsea 1-1 Arsenal
By: Trent | December 10th, 2006What a match! A goal by Flamini looked to give the Gunners the improbable win, until Michael Essien’s absolute cracker equalised. The Blues hit the post a couple of times in the closing moments, but could only muster a draw against an undermanned Arsenal.
There was also dumb running feud between Drogba and Jens, which saw both eventually carded. Weak stuff.
We know Sir Alex is happy enough.

I can’t believe this is even the same team I watched in the Porto game. I missed the first half and part of the second, but what I saw was fun, exciting football.
And I’m still laughing at that Drogba-Lehmann shoving match. What are you guys, like, four years old?
(Be sure to post it when it shows up on YouTube. Your fans will enjoy it.)Seeing Arsenal do so well without Henry kind of gives fuel to those transfer rumors, doesn’t it?

The Drogba v Lehmann “diving/shoving” competition was hilarious.
Lehmann has shoved a couple of opponents this season and has also dived hopelessly.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7CQidMRyCU
But in drogba, Lehmann found an absolute pro at diving.

Yeah, agreed, that’s no way for a former Marseille player to comport himself public-wise, o my brothers (quote A Clockwork Orange!)
But how about that Essien shot? Flamini’s was nice as well, but man, Essien’s was nuts.

Yup–Essien’s shot was incredible. How he had the guts to even shoot from there was crazy. Nothing anyone could do about that one. One of the best goals of the Prem season, easily. Absolute cracker.

A terrific match! Watched the whole thing on FSC. I loved the Lehmann-Drogba stuff, very entertaining. I just love Lehmann — he’s obnoxious, theatrical, incredibly irritating and brilliant. The passing set-up for Flamini’s strike was beautiful. Amazing achievement for Arsenal, keeping Chelski to a draw. That’s the best I was hoping for, tho for awhile there I wondered if we could actually win. Yes, Essien’s strike is easily one of the season’s best but I don’t think it’s “the goal of the season” as Chelski-biased SkySports gushed. There have been some amazing goals in the Prem this season — my favorite is still Alonso’s incredible strike from his own half. By the way, this isn’t the first time Arsenal has performed well without Henry.
