Henry Hard on Henry
By: Trent | November 15th, 2006
Arsenal captain Thierry Henry has heard the criticisms. And he doesn’t disagree.
“I have had a mixed season so far, I am not in my best form. It is never easy after a World Cup and moreover when you have played a Champions League final. It is true, I am not shining so far. I had no pre-season preparation, I started straight away and I pay for that now. The fans expect more from me, and I expect more too. I feel I have disposed of the World Cup on an emotional level, but maybe my body has not disposed of it yet.”
World Cup hangover? At any rate, calls for Henry to give up his captaincy in order to concentrate on scoring are I think misguided. His form has been dull, but you have to think that it’s temporary. And with Arsenal still in third place, there is time to catch up to ManYoo and Chelsea.
Also, it’s Thierry F. Henry, people. And the F stands for Freakin’.
UPDATE: Oh, also–Henry is a bit of a dandy.
