Henry Heads to Scotland, Hansen Says Take ‘im Down
By: Trent | October 6th, 2006No Prem match for the Gunners this wekkend, of course, as international duty beckons for many of the Arsenal side. For one, Thierry Henry and his World Cup-runner-up teammates will play Scotland tomorrow at Hampden Park in Glasgow.
Bookmakers have of course installed France as heavy favorites, and have even given Henry 16-1 odds to net a hat trick. So, is there any chance the Scots can upset les bleus? Is there any way to contain Henry? Scotland and Liverpool legend–and insufferable footie pundit–Alan Hansen says, sure: knock his block off.
Hansen, himself a sublime Scot defender in his day, opines:
“So what do they do? Give him a whack early on. Legitimately, of course. But that will help. If you are away from home, under pressure and you get a kick, then it could put him backwards. The Scotland players have got to put their foot in.”
Legitimately, of course. UPDATE: In fairness, Scotland won 1-0, and look headed for–dare I say it–the Euro 2008 finals.
