I’m So Tired
By: travis | January 27th, 2009So tired of hearing this or that about the Arshavin madness. I don’t even want to write this post right now, but since everyone and his or her mom is writing and reporting something about a fee being agreed, I figure I would take this time to whinge about it. Wenger has now come out and said that the fee everyone has reported has not been agreed upon. Here’s my question: why is it that every time a player’s name is mentioned in a rumor with Arsenal, it must become a long and dragged out process? Last summer, it was Nasri, this time around, it’s Arshavin. And while we’re on the pesky Russian, I don’t know if he’s even worth it. Sure, he brings a creative presence to a team that desperately lacks creativity right now. But he is very similar to players that Arsenal already has — namely Rosicky and Nasri. So what kind of a difference would he really make? That is something I will go into if he actually signs.
There is good news coming out of the Emirates — Eduardo is a game or two from returning to the first team. The boss wants him to get some practice in a friendly match with his country or another reserve match. Hopefully, it’ll be a huge boost to the first team and add another spark to a team that needs a boost.
Tomorrow is a big trip to Everton. A tricky fixture no doubt, and the pressure is on since Villa and Man United all won today. I honestly don’t know how Villa keeps it up, but good for them. I’ll be back in the morning with a longer game preview and thread. As for now, keep watching the transfer wires. Maybe this whole crap storm of rumors will be put to rest soon.

i dont think hes worth it either, it’d be better to get into the veloso sweepstakes so theres someone more solid to hold the midfield than denilson…then someone like nasri can sit behind the front men and work the magic

I agree with both the article and matt. What we need is a holding midfielder and veloso would be a great choice. I love Arsenal but our management is full of shit.

Well Like i have written in the Article on my blog, Arsenal have got habituated to giving excuses each year rather than winning the league for once…

agree with the article and matt and ryan..except for wenger, so far he has given a lt, but maybe i am just sibjective and not seeing right, although i agree that he should be looking for veloso or somebody with similar skills, let’s hope for the best today

I think the question will start to become how much grace should Wenger be given? Another trophyless season makes it five since they last won anything…

Welcome to my summer spent frantically refreshing soccernet to see if we’d signed Berba yet… aren’t prolonged transfer sagas the best?

first paragraph is totally on point travis. i don’t see this signing happening though and i don’t know if that would make you guys happy that you didn’t sign a player you didn’t truly need, or sad about the clubs’ constant frugality which leads to a lack of success.

I read the article that Gopal posted the link for. Totally on point. I wouldn’t say we need Arsahvin, but due to our lack of creativity it would be in our best interest to sign him. The priorities at Arsenal are clearly mixed up. Arsenal according to Forbes is among the richest clubs in world football yet management is afraid to invest in improving their product. Arsenal should be linked with three or four quality players at least. We sell the players we have no business selling without replacing them, we do God knows what with the profits we make,we throw undeveloped youngsters into a grown mans game, and we carry around dead weight some of whom have clearly achieved their peak and have nothing to contribute to the growth of the team. It’s complicated and frustrating all at once, but hey it’s our responsiblity to stick with our club through thick and thin.
