I’m tired of rumors starting
By: travis | July 3rd, 2008The see-sawing saga of Adebayor continues. And against my better judgement, I’m bringing it up again. There are other things to comment on. But first, the Togan international looks more and more like he will remain at Ashburton Grove for the 2008/09 season. Why do I think that? Because it seems like Arsenal simply won’t sell him, having reportedly turned down a £25m offer from Barcelona, and requesting £35.8m for him from Milan. That high price has caused the Italian giants to rule themselves out of the running for him, which means that it’s only the third or fourth time that they’ve done that. And Barcelona just splashed out around £25 for Daniel Alves, making it unlikely to spend even more than that for Ade. With the way things have gone in this drama, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear a bit more chatter before all is said and done.
There is no new news on Samir Nasri, but I’m hearing that an official announcement may be soon, especially with Marseille officially signing Hatem Ben Arfa. It was touch and go there for a moment, and if the Ben Arfa transfer had been annulled, it would have been surprising to see Nasri still come to London. It may only take a “few more days” for things to come through. I’ll believe that when I see it on the official site.
I think Nicklas Bendtner has felt left out during the silly season. His father has come out to quash reports that there was talks of his son moving to either Roma or Milan. It’s a bit of a shocker, but the report originated from none other than the Italian media (surprise, surprise) newspaper Corriere dello Sport. So it has pretty much no credibility. I could chatter on for days about these rumors, but I’m a bit tired of them.

If the players let the agents do the talking (thats what they get payed for!) and not stir up trouble (ala Ronaldo, Barry, Ade), the transfer season would go more smoothly. Also the agents themselves should know when to shut up (Helb agent, Messi agent). The deals between clubs are between the clubs. You don’t need to alert the press every time you think it would be nice to play at another club.
