In sight of the top four

By: travis | March 14th, 2009

No doubt that it’s a big game this morning with a visit from Blackburn. There’s no reason to focus or think about Roma now — it’s over with. Today is a chance to get the three points and put the pressure on Villa for once, as they play Tottenham tomorrow. We all know that Blackburn is a game that we can win, although in recent weeks that’s been the problem. The inability to beat the lower level teams will go a long way to hurt a run to the top four. Even though they aren’t losses, at this point in the season another 0-0 might as well be a loss. Wenger puts it the best:

“We have been consistent in the Premier League for a long time now.

“We just want to transform our home draws into wins, and we have a good opportunity to do that tomorrow. I feel that if we are consistent, then we will be ahead of Villa at the end of the season.”

Spot on assessment. For all those doubting that Wenger has completely lost it — I know, not too many people actually do think that — he is astute when it comes to our chances in the league and what needs to get done today. The only injury news to report is Eduardo, who did something to his groin muscle and is out. Hope to see Theo with a start, along with Arshavin in. I think the midfield might look like this: Nasri, Arshavin, Song, Theo. That’d be something interesting, and imagine Cesc in for Song and it’s quite exciting. Although fair credit to the Cameroon international for playing very well during the FA Cup last weekend. If he can replicate his performances in the league against more stout opposition then perhaps he might be someone to be more excited about after all.

That’s all I’ve got. Remember to post your comments and thoughts before, during, and after the game right here. Come on three points.

Good to see Theo back in the XI. Arshavin was a delight, actually the whole team was solid. The only problem I saw was playing two offensive minded outside midfielders. When Song moved forward, the Gunners failed to cover his flank, leaving open space on the counter. A good offensive squad would have made those chances count and, thus, a closer game. Good win none the less. And for the first time in a long time I will root for Sp*rs. Ugh.

That’s the main reason for this win, instead of dabbling
aimlessly outside the box, he takes it right to the door step. And if boy wonder Bendtner could calm down a bit, it
could have been an absolutely embarrassing day for Blackburn perhaps 7 or 8 to zip would not have been an exaggeration as most of you who watched could confirm.
