New Arsenal Kit

By: Trent | March 21st, 2007

Well, maybe they can’t score goals to save their lives, but Arsenal may at least change their look for future away matches. Sartorial overlord Nike may have the Gunners playing in all new white strips next season when they are away from Ashburton Grove.

You can see them here.

Some fans were upset that white unis could mean looking like Tottenham Hotspur, but at least these shirts aren’t all white. Still, it’s hard to say they’re great. I guess it was just time to (again) separate the supporter from his or her money.

Personally my vote would be for a green away kit as in the mid/late 80’s. And I also agree there should be a 3rd kit…just my thoughts from America.

green!? yea i remember that…oh..we could camouflage and creep around the pitch and all you’d see is a ball and the home team…great.. .as for the white..’uh hum’..i think it looks cool and if you check it is actually traditonal away kit for arsenal..i like the idea of the redcurrant, redcurrant shorts and redcurrant and white hooped socks…nothing like spurs..and they are such a small team anyway..nobody s gonna draw a comparison…!!???

Seriously? Are you people really suggesting that a white kit would be a good idea? Chris, you are obviously not a gooner at all as we are a club that loves its traditions and revels in them. That is why we should be so upset about this as it is NOT being done for a good look, nor a united color code at the Emirates. It is being done so that Arsenal PLC and Nike can make more money. In a few years Arsenal will be playing in front of a stadium full of business men, with American accents, eating £10 per pint beers. Its already happening, the stadium is always half empty with 10 mins to go, what “fan” would leave before the game has finished and not stay to applaud out team? This club and its so called fans need a kick up the arse and a slap in the face. WAKE UP PEOPLE or we are going to lose our club totally.

im with brandon here. americans r passionate about sport. not beating the fck out of the opposition. Brits get a bad name and its definatly only a minority.
as a gooner i like the idea of revesring the home strip. ive always been a bit partial t white football kits. and i think this works well. the tottenham comparison is a load of turd cz they dont have any red on it. the red stands out. the red makes us arsenal. not burgundy, which worked well to see off highbury. i have most shirts from 1999 onwards. and i love all of them. i dnt care if its a scam to make money. im here to support my football club. if they wear these kits, so will i.

According to arsenal.com the new away kit will celebrate the pioneering spirit of Herbert Chapman. Which I see as a bit of a conflict, it was originally Chapmans idea to have the yellow and blue away strip (the bright yellow was supposed to put opponents off), and it doesn’t seem very pioneering to just flip the colours.
Having said that I do quite like it (although I have seen quite a few different versions of it), and i’m bound to buy it. And although I don’t like the idea of having a kit the same colour as spurs i’m glad that Arsenal aren’t ripping the fans off like spurs are and having an extra kit for just one match. As for ripping the fans off with loads of kits Arsenal cant really be accused of that, most of the time they change each kit every other year, many teams change both kits every year, and we don’t have a constant stream of third kits that are hardly ever worn.

I personally would like to see a modern day kit resembling the yellow and blue of the 1970s double winning kit.

This is a bad idea. I feel we should keep with yellow or blue for the away kits. Although the idea of bringing back the green would be interesting. I also have a feeling that this is a ploy by nike to keep the actual design secret to prevent it being copied. I cant remember how many versions of the new home shirt i saw before it was released. My money is on a two tone blue kit for next season.

These so called hardcore Arsenal fans who talk about traditional yellow or blue are morons. The new away kit is in honour/memory of the late, great innovater that was Herbert Chapman. And what was the colour of our away kit in the 30’s when he was manager? WHITE!!! This is the reason that the new away kit is white

i dont like the new shirt at all, our club arsenal is a club of history and tradition. so why change our traditions by having a white kit instead of the traditional blue n yellow. we have made those colours ours. so why change it? its like we r startin a new era. never fix summit when it aint broken!
