Preview: Arsenal v. Everton

By: Trent | October 27th, 2006

johnson-unveil.jpgThe Gunners are set to host Everton tomorrow in Premiership play. Currently, Arsenal sit in fourth place in the table, while Everton are just one point back and in sixth position. (Albeit, Arsenal do have a game in hand.)

Everton have had a great start to the season, although things have slowed a bit as of late having dropped nine points in its last five matches. But despite Arsenal’s magnificent form as of late, the Toffees are capabale of scoring goals when Andy Johnson and Tim Cahill (nominated for the Balon d’Or, har har) are on.

Speaking of Andy Johnson and his six League goals, Arsene Wenger has admitted that he considered making a play for the former Crystal Palace star during the summer. Of course, A-Dub also says that AJ made a “mistake” by staying in the Championship last year after Palace were relegated. Probably so, but I’d like to see loyalty like AJ’s thoght of more highly than it is.

And in the end, he’s in the Prem, he’s rich, and he will likely get some opportunities from England manager Steve McClaren. (and, um, hello, he should have been taken to Germany by Sven.)

Given Arsenal’s recent form, and the homefield advantage, I’ll go with the Gunners and a 3-1 final score.
