Ramsey signs…
By: travis | June 14th, 2008We beat Man United. Unfortunately it was to the signature of young star Aaron Ramsey, the Cardiff City winger/midfielder. It’s kind of hard to be excited about such a young team signing a player who is only 17 year old. I can’t see a midfield duo of Theo and Ramsey leading us to a Premier League title. Call me a skeptic, but the odds are long on that happening. He probably won’t make the starting lineup in the League for a bit. And it’s not that he isn’t talented, but I thought a lack of depth and experience were crucial factors (not to mention injuries) that cost us the league last year. Perhaps I am being a bit too negative. Looking on the bright side, Ramsey expressed how Wenger was the reason he joined Arsenal. Ramsey has pace and vision, not too mention fancy footwork that he puts on display in the clip below. To find out even more, the Arsenal official site has a short bit about him. Hopefully there will be one or two more signings of players a bit older this summer.

I seem to remember a certain phrase….. ‘You’ll win nothing with kids’
That was proved correct….wait…. the exact opposite happened

I think Cesc Fabregas played 49 times in all competitions for Arsenal at age 18 and started getting limited time at age 16. I’m not saying Ramsey is Fabregas but Ramsey doesn’t have to make the language adjustment or the adjustment to FA football. I’d expect some play this year in the Carling Cup and some sub time here and there depending on injuries. If he earns more time, he’ll get more time. It’s a good signing.
Note, Tomas Rosicky appears to be fit again and that will give Arsenal a very nice boost.

Gooner’s had worse luck than all the teams. With RvP,Eduardo and Rosicky back, and Walcott hitting his stride, and the 99% chance that NAsri comes to us, this year might be different.

“It’s kind of hard to be excited about such a young team signing a player who is only 17 year old.”
Says it all about ‘fans’ from teams of the big four. No view of the bigger picture. How can you not be excited about the signing of one of the hottest, if not THE hottest young British player around? Arsenal need all the young British players they can get, because with the 6+5 rule looking likely they’ll need all the talented British players they can lay their hands on.
