The foul was definitely outside the box. But what was maddening was this: Mike Riley (the ref) booked a Spurs player for deliberately elbowing Toure. The rules clearly say that’s a RED CARD offense — Riley gave him a yellow. Senderos fouls a Spurs player outside the box (and it was a very light foul, nothing violent) — Riley goes straight to red. This is the same Riley who has publicly said more than once how much he loves ManU (direct quote “I LOVE Manchester United!”) and ended Arsenal’s 49 unbeaten run 2 seasons ago in a match against ManU — Rooney made a very obvious, deliberate dive in the penalty area, Riley bought it (of course) and Rooney scored the pen. I am so sick and tired of the capriciousness of English referees—and it’s not just in Arsenal matches. The lousy officiating at the ManU-Spurs game was a joke.
