The Absolute Best Player in England
By: Trent | September 26th, 2007
Here’s a hint: he’s a Spaniard. Also, he is, I think, 12 years old. He is, of course, Cesc Fabregas.
It may seem a little early to wrest the title from a certain winking, prostitute-fancying, fellow-Iberian Red Devil, but I think the (limited) evidence from this year suggests that Fabregas may in fact be the best player in the Premiership.
His leadership took a giant leap after Thierry Henry left, his passing is approaching Zizou’s in vision, and he’s netted six goals in six Premier League and three Champions League matches for the Gunners. Oh, and six assists as well.
So, tell me why I’m wrong. Who’s better in England today?

Attacking player, sure, not all-round though. It’s still Gerrard. If you asked all the managers in the Premiership who’d they rather have Fabregas or Gerrard, I’d say at least 70% would say Gerrard. Probably even Wenger.

Fabregas >>> Gerrard.

You guys don’t seem to understand the question. “Who’s better in England today?” Not last year or the year before. Who is the best in England at the moment? The obvious answer is Cesc! Gerrard is legendary but Fabregas is the current best player in the premiership. The stats are there for all to see.

I agree with Bootoomee – the question remains the same, who is the best today? Definitely Cesc based on the stats and the results in all games played. Goodnight!

Tom Huddlestone.
I joke.
But i still think Van Persie’s better than Cesc.

Cesc is the best…he can hold up play, pass really well, score goals from outside, inside the box…well he’s just good for now and hopefully he maintains this type of from and win the champions league final =D

Fabregas is the most efficient player right now with his passing, threatening passes nonetheless, and making things happen and his teammates better in the fewest amount of touches.

Cesc is the best this second … he’s on a hot streak … it’ll take more than that to be the best in the Premiership. To be that, you’re talking about seasons in top form, not games.

Look history is exactly what it is, something in the past.
Currently Cesc is proving that the status of being the best in the EPL, is his. The stats are there.Im a totally Gunner and i dont deny that Gerrard is legendary and i rate him highly, but presently he does not deserve that title.
Football supporters should support football for its beauty and not on history (and if that happens i think everyone would be a arsenal fan)…..FANTACY FOOTBALL

I think, if I can be brutally honest with you all, this sort of comments should be best left till the end of the season!! We as Arsenal supporters do not wish to give the other 9 outfield players we do not value their contribution in equal measure to whoever you feel at the moment is the best player.
I do not go to Emirates to watch only one player but the whole team who make their individual contributions to the cause. We do not want a divided dressing room or an ego-ridden one. Look at what happened with Henry in the team. We do not want the repeat of that, and by singling out one player, you are trying to make him just as a star as you made Henry, to the detriment of the others. Stop this nonsense comparisons now!!! But instead take a more mature approach to the issue by making each memeber as valued as the other. Thank you.Posted from

Brian i think they would say Gerald on account of his experience and longivity on the scene, not neccessary on account of current envidence.

Before Tuesday nights game against Newcastle I would have agreed that Cesc was the best but after seeing Alex Songs performence not only is he the best player in the Premiership but the best player of all time (including Pele,Maradona and Best.

Listen who ever does the posting for arsenal offside blog has to step up it. Unfortunely I had to glance at the ManUre offside blog and they have nice pictures of players scoring, great video’s, and you have this stupid stuff up.If you can’t do the job, please defer to someone else. Your late on every bit of news that has to do with arsenal. Yes, we understand how great of a year Cesc is having how about you think outside the box and put up something about Denlison or Diaby, just a thought. Set it up for Christ sake we’re top of the league and you give us a blog worthy of QPR (no offense rangers fans)

Right now, it has to be Cesc. Everyone wonders where Arsenal would end up without Thierry, but I wonder if Arsenal would have 16 points after 6 matches without Fabregas.

he is a stud. he rarely wastes a pass unlike hleb. he is an absolute joy to watch and the goals this year have been an awesome bonus. im worried it wont be long before some meathead hurts him though because he is the engine that drives arsenal.

Gerrard at 20 yrs old is no where near Fabregas of today.

On current form it’s extremely hard to disagree! I felt he was a stand out performer for the last two seasons, despite his lack of goals. I think it’s ludicrous that he didn’t win Young Player of the Year last year/the year before. All of Arsenal’s play goes through him and he rarely wastes possesion. Now he’s improved defensively, and chipped in with more goals, I really believe that this is the year of the FABregas.
