Thierry Henry Staying; Wenger Blames Domenech; Sun Rises in East

He’s been banged up most of this season, and the transfer rumours will not stop. Of course, some still wish Arsenal had sold him to Barcelona after the Champions League final last year. But for now, Arsenal striker Thierry Henry reiterates that he’s a Gunner for life. And of course such pronouncements are as good as gold in football. Well, gold bullion. Okay, court bullion. But still, that can be pretty tasty.
As for those injuries, Henry says his lack of preseason training may have doomed him to a succession of knocks. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was more pointed, blaming French national coach Raymond Domenech for Henry’s woes.
“I feel Thierry has been badly managed by the French national team. The World Cup Final was on the July 9, and I gave him a holiday until August 4. Then he came back and we prepared him. I left him out of the Champions League qualifier against Dinamo Zagreb. They [France] called him up for a game on August 16 – less than 14 days after he came back [from Germany] – and they played him for a whole game against Bosnia. After the World Cup final, why did they need to do that?”
Whatever the reasons, Arsenal will travel to Birmingham tonight to face Aston Villa without Henry’s services.
