This is strange…
By: travis | February 26th, 2009Saloman Kalou to Arsenal? That is a strange rumor, and one that I would never believe or post if not for how ludicrous it is. Those stuck in rumor lala land, please come up with something that is even remotely believable. Here’s what he said:
”Wenger said he thought of signing me? That’s an honour for me, an honour. He is a very great coach and I know that every single player in the world dreams of playing for him. I have a lot of respect for him, he is one of the best coaches in the world so why not?
”I am still under contract with Chelsea but of course I have plenty of friends who play for Arsenal in Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Eboue and Emmanuel Adebayor. They are achieving huge things at Arsenal and watching them play is just beautiful.”
Interesting to see his ambition and I can understand the African connections, but a player’s desire alone isn’t enough to trigger rumors such as these.
In a positive development, the reason that Toure and Gallas were late out on the pitch for the start of the second half against Roma was that Toure was waiting for Gallas to finish receiving treatment. This is significant because of the apparent rift that had developed between the two earlier in the season that has vanished, only to be replaced by the inability to score goals. It’s good to see the two have worked things out, which has also reflected in the recent defensive success of Arsenal.
Cesc has recently admitted that the title is out of reach. Gee, that’s pretty astute considering this team now sits a whopping 17 points behind the leaders. At least he’s come out and said something, I certainly hope that it contributes a positive vibe into the locker room. That’s all for now.

Scolari said something about Wenger’s interest over the summer, apparently he had enquired about Kalou with the intention of playing him as a centre-forward…
