Time to bring out the whooping stick.

By: travis | April 18th, 2008

Now that the season is over with four games remaining, it’s time to take out all this frustration of the last month on Reading. They still have something to play for, seeing that they are not yet safe from the relegation zone. And with Fulham probably getting an easy ride from Liverpool, three points are vital to the Royals.

Ahead of the match, the usual suspects – Eduardo, Rosicky, Sagna – are all out, and Almunia has also failed a fitness test. So crazy Jens Lehmann will reprise his starting role from last weekend, although he did do well Sunday aganist Man United.

The only other thing that I have to say about the Reading match is start Theo Walcott.

Moving along, Wenger talks about the need for one or two ‘real’ quality players. That’s a relief, I was worried that all he would want to do is buy ‘fake’ players, or perhaps players made out of glass. He seems to already have enough of those at this point. He continues to mention something about re-thinking Gallas’ role as captain, setting a deadline on Flamini’s deal, and that he is not in the market for David Villa.

Last but not least, I predict a 5-2 win for Arsenal.

Upon reading this and focusing on the transfer news, I strongly applaud our manager’s decision to get some quality players for next season. I think Bendtner is going to leave, he hasn’t seen much playing time. To replace him I think we need a proven goal scorer, someone with skill who can make space, someone of Torres’ caliber. Someone from Spain perhaps? Our defence also needs a liitle boost. After seeing Song play against Man U and Reading today, I dare say he needs much more development outside of first team play. Sanderos is also in consistent and seems to fear pacy powerful players. If we could get someone as good as Sagna I would be elated. Our midfield is pretty solid, especially after the return of Rosicky and Flamini. I think our lads have grown by leaps and bounds this season and look forward to next season to see what other great things they have in store for us. But we do need depth. We are competing in many gruling competitions that demand interchanging players, it’s aweful when you stick an inexperienced, young player into a high profile game when everything is on the line. Oh, please sell Eboue. I might sound a little drastic throughout this but I am still bitter at the idea that we blew a great season. Forgive me
