Update from the Euros: Van Persie remains uninjured

By: travis | June 17th, 2008

Enough of that. Having no real transfer news to report – other than the confirmation that Lehmann is exiting – I can move on. There was good news and bad news for Gunners at Euro, as the French were knocked out at the hands of Italy. William Gallas went the full 90 in central defense, although hardly did anything worth mentioning. Off topic a bit, I cannot recall seeing a worse coaching performance at the international level than Domenech at this Euro 2008 tournament. Ew. Samir Nasri got to play all of 15 minutes, coming on as a subsitute for an injured Ribery, only to be pulled off after Abidal’s red card. Reports of his transfer being secured are still floating around the Internets, although I’ll post a link to it when it’s official. Would have been nice for him to get a chance to shine, but a cautious and inept coach limited that.

Now the good news. Striker Robin Van Persie grabbed his second goal of the tournament, securing a 2-0 win over the Romanians who looked very uninspiring. And of course, he hasn’t gotten hurt yet (knock on wood). Let’s hope he can keep himself in one piece before the end of the tournament, then continue that trend into next season.

I’m willing to bet that Cesc may get to start in Spain’s match against Greece tomorrow. We’ll see.

I’m willing to bet that Cesc may get to start in Spain’s match against Greece tomorrow…since it’s all but official that Spain & Greece are both playing B teams.

we have some english coming up in the youth. jack wilshire, lansbury, mark randall, jay simpson, etc. england is just not a producing nation.

and arsenal, because of our new stadium, has massive amounts of debt. on the other hand, our income has grown exponentially because of it. we wont reap the benefits for another few years tho. till then, we have transfer kitties of 25m
