Confident that Flamster will return plus Chelsea preview
By: travis | March 21st, 2008
A slow newsday this morning as the team prepares for what looks like to be the biggest game of the year. I wrote yesterday about Flamini’s contract situation. Wenger is confident things will be settled in April. This work really nicely for us.
Chelsea Preview
The Gunners biggest test of the season. With their slump in form and lack creativity in attack, this trip to Stamford Bridge marks a possible turning point. Lose, and they’ll slip into 3rd place. A win couple with a United loss to Liverpool means that they’ll be on even points but trailing in goal differential. Arsenal won the other fixture this season, 1-0 on a William Gallas goal.
Recent Form
Arsenal’s past six games has yielded two wins and four consecutive draws against mediocre opponents. The last decent game they put together was the masterful win at the San Siro.
Chelsea had that memorable 4-4 draw at White Hart Lane on Wednesday, and had won three games in a row prior to that match. They also haven’t lost in 78 games at Stamford Bridge. Could this be the week the streak is snapped?
Injuries
The only issue for Chelsea is keep Petr Cech, who has been suffering from an ankle injury. His status is up in the air, so Carlo Cudicini could possible get the start.
The Gunners have no new injury news with Eduardo out for the season, Tomas Rosicky still made of glass, Abou Diaby battling a calf problem and Johan Djourou on his way back from a groin problem.
Prediction
Chelsea 1-1 Arsenal
A fifth draw in a row seems quite likely. I’d love for the Gunners to break the streak, but realistically can’t see it happening.
