William Gallas Is Not Happy
By: Trent | July 9th, 2007
And when William Gallas ain’t happy…well…you can bet your arse that…well, anyway, there should be an appropriate saying here to underscore…. Forget it.
Suffice to say that Gallas is worried that of the Big Four clubs in the Premiership, Arsenal have made the least noise this summer when it comes to transfers and signings.
Thierry Henry left (you may have heard). Eduardo arrived. That’s been the big news.
Gallas sez:
“Around us, all the teams are recruiting but what is planned to compensate for the departure of Titi Henry? I am not at Arsenal to play for third place. It is necessary to recruit players of reputation because the young players have many qualities but the season is very, very long. The young players are thirsty for victories but Arsenal must obtain results, win titles in this period. If not, we will have to change policy and do the same as the other teams: recruit with more means.”
So for you Arsenal supporters out there–is Gallas right? Are you getting nervous? For supporters of other clubs, are you happy about the state of affairs at the Emirates?

So poor old Willy Gallas isn’t happy at The Arenal, well I’m not particularly happy with him, he hardly put in a worthwhile performance last season. If he was half as good as he seems to think he is we wouldn’t have conceeded nearly so many sloppy goals. Our priority in my opion is still a decent centreback, so off you go back to Chelski you’ll find lots to moan about there the for sure.

Gallas is right. If wenger doesnt have any plans (probably does) to sign players then gallas does have a right to moan. I am nervous myself i must admit as i check the news regularly and see almost all teams brining in a large quantity of players and arsenal have brought in 1 signing to affect. If wenger does however hav transfer targets he should tell his fans, NOT who just say he has plans., like benitez, mourinho and ferguson

Right message, wrong messenger. Gallas didn’t do sh*te last year and when he did do sh*te he was sh*te. Arsenal fans do have a reason to be worried about being passed up though. It is going to take a lot things going right for them to beat out the other three.

I agree with all three of you.
Although Luca, I thought you slept with the fishes, no?

If Fabregas had mouthed off it would have been apt - but Gallas, are you kidding me? Sure enough, along with Kolo Toure he is Arsenal’s most established international class defenders, but he has not put in the kind of performances that warranted such comments. I say, bring in Sagna at right back, push Eboue in to partner Toure at the center. Clichy and Armand Traore can handle the left!

Was Gallas even on the team this year, he should keep his mouth shut. People seem to forget that Henry and Van Persie were injured the majority of the season and they still finished 4th, qualified for europe and made it to the finals of the Carling Cup and was respectable in the FA Cup. If Man U lost Rooney and Ronaldo for the majority of the season they wouldn’t have won the title. I agree there needs to be a player or two added, but let’s not get insane here. Babel would be a nice addition, but the team is young and will do very well this season.

lets face it , plucked from the bench of Chelsea because Cole would be more favoured by Mourhino , he feels that our transfer policy is weak. True we dont have the big bucks that Chelsea have , however we went 49 unbeaten not so long ago, the kids are starting to gel and we have real potential. So far there have been 4 signings incl a defender (we hope) . Not many are linking him with a big team (unless man city decide to come in for him!) He should put up and play , he is a terrific player when not injured , and could do quite a bit for team morale (in fact he has the makings of a team captain). William, let your feet do the talking and leave the running of football affairs to Arsene

Sorry just one more thing , buying in expensive players doesn’t always work - Shevechenko ! They can moan and wont want to play the colchesters of the world. That in effect has a bad effect on those who will play when and where they are told to. Morale then suffers.

Lots of Arsenal fans don’t seem to get it. Both Baptista and Gallas came in very late into the transfer window last season. The transfer window ends on AUGUST 31. Many fans seem to think that Arsenal and Wenger should work on their personally preferred schedule and should be in the news like the other big clubs are. It does no good for a club’s transfer news to be all over the news. Arsenal under Wenger has ALWAYS done things quietly at their own pace — stop being influenced by media saturation and hysteria about other clubs. What’s going on now is typical Arsenal business — quiet, and at their own pace. And Arsenal rarely buy big name players — Wenger makes big name players out of nobodies like Henry and Vieira. If by late August, we have no news at all, THEN and only THEN should we worry.
